On the occasion of World AMR Awareness Week 2026, the Global Alliance for Infections in Surgery is pleased to organize the international webinar “Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Prevention and Control in Global Health: A Shared Responsibility Against Antimicrobial Resistance,” taking place on 20 November 2026.
Participation is completely FREE OF CHARGE and OPEN TO EVERYONE worldwide! There are no participation fees. Healthcare professionals, researchers, academics, students, public health specialists, policymakers, and anyone interested in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and global health are warmly invited to join this international event. We strongly encourage participants from all countries, healthcare settings, and professional backgrounds to take part in this shared global effort.
Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most pressing global health challenges of our time, threatening the effective prevention and treatment of infections and placing an increasing burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Addressing this challenge requires coordinated action, international collaboration, and a shared commitment across disciplines, institutions, and countries. Every professional, every healthcare setting, and every community has a role to play in tackling AMR.
Bringing together internationally recognized experts from different countries and disciplines, the webinar will provide a global platform for knowledge exchange, scientific discussion, and professional engagement. Speakers will explore current and emerging challenges in the prevention and management of infections, highlighting the essential and complementary roles of antimicrobial stewardship, diagnostic stewardship, infection prevention and control (IPC), innovation, and integrated approaches to global health.
Particular attention will be given to the importance of promoting the responsible use of antimicrobials, strengthening infection prevention strategies, improving diagnostic practices, and fostering collaboration across healthcare systems and professional communities. By connecting perspectives and experiences from around the world, the webinar aims to encourage meaningful dialogue, share knowledge, and support practical approaches to reducing the burden of infections and slowing the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance.
A truly global event, accessible to everyone
To make live participation possible for healthcare professionals, researchers, and interested participants across virtually every time zone, the webinar will run for a total of 8 hours, providing an extended opportunity to connect with international experts and engage in discussions on this critical global health priority.
Participation is entirely free of charge, and the event is open to everyone interested in the topic, regardless of country, professional background, or institutional affiliation. Participants will be able to actively engage throughout the webinar, submit questions, and interact with speakers and experts through the live chat, making this an opportunity not only to listen and learn, but also to contribute to an international exchange of ideas and experiences.
All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
We believe that raising awareness, sharing knowledge, strengthening collaboration, and promoting evidence-informed practices are essential steps toward addressing antimicrobial resistance. This webinar represents an opportunity to join a worldwide community committed to improving infection prevention and management and safeguarding the effectiveness of antimicrobial treatments for current and future generations.
