Ten years after its establishment, the Global Alliance for Infections in Surgery is entering a new chapter in its journey with the launch of a dedicated Global Health section. Over the past decade, the Alliance has evolved into an international network committed to advancing the prevention and management of infections in surgical patients through education, research, scientific collaboration, and the dissemination of evidence-based practices. As health challenges become increasingly interconnected and transcend national borders, our mission must evolve accordingly. Creating a dedicated Global Health section reflects this commitment and expands the Alliance’s scope beyond surgical infections to address the broader determinants and emerging challenges that shape health worldwide. Antimicrobial resistance, emerging and re-emerging infections, climate change, humanitarian crises, armed conflicts, migration, health inequalities, environmental threats, disparities in access to healthcare, and disinformation are deeply interconnected challenges. Addressing them requires coordinated, multidisciplinary, and international action.
